I Found Siteground Web Hosting To Be Better All Round

Siteground HostingHey guys,
Today I thought I would do a review for the hosting services I have moved my blog to, Siteground Web Hosting, I had all my sites hosted with Hostgator and didn’t really have a problem until it came down to site speed and support.

Since Hostgator sold out to another company, their support suddenly went from 5* down to only 2* tops, before it only took around 2 to 3 minutes to chat with someone who would help you get sorted 99% of the time.  Last time I spoke with their support I think I had to wait around 30 minutes to speak with someone and then around 3 to 5 minutes between messages, clearly one operator trying to help several people at once, awful service!

I also noticed my sites were taking a little while to load, so I started to look around for a better hosting company, I found Siteground Hosting to be my best choice as they promised faster hosting speed and answering support tickets in less than 15 minutes amongst other good features.

I thought I would test the waters by moving just one site over to see how things panned out, I have currently been a customer for nearly 6 months now.

Here is my honest review of Siteground Hosting

If you have decided to set up and run a website or a number of sites, it is important to do it right the first time. There are a number of things you have to pay special attention to. They include finding the right keywords to help you rank better with search engines, having an attractive and responsive design as well as ensuring that your site is up and running all the time.

A site is as good as the hosting platform you choose to use. If you have an efficient web hosting service provider, you site will be up all the time and your visitors will have an easy time navigating through.

Looking for a good web hosting company was not an easy task for me with many providers making promises that they sometimes fail to keep. One web hosting company that seemed to be keeping its promises was Siteground Hosting.

The company has become the hosting provider of choice for many people, small businesses and large companies. It has achieved this feat by offering excellent services and going the extra mile by offering its customers customized solutions to ensure their sites are more secure, faster and enjoy better 24/7 support than any other provider out there.

Siteground Hosting Features

If you thought you had seen all hosting offers, you will be surprised to find that Siteground offers more features than most of the providers in the industry. These features are as follows:

– You get unlimited add on domains on your account

–  Have servers in three locations namely the US, Holland and Singapore.

– Offer daily backup services

– Has a free setup and transfer of your account (Awesome feature!!)

– Get many useful WordPress management tools

– An auto update of WordPress and related Plug-ins that you choose

– You are not limited to the number and type of plug-ins you can use

– You get a free domain on registration (Saves over $10 on new sites!)

– Has over 99.9 service uptime

– A 20GB storage capacity

– You get 24/7 technical support

– A 30 days money back guarantee

– You get unlimited emails, traffic and DB’s

– Comes with free CloudFlare CDN

 Why use Siteground Hosting?

One of the most important features to look out for in a hosting provider is the percentage of uptime, after all you have set up your site with the intention of receiving traffic at all times. Siteground happens to have an impressive uptime. Last year they  had a 99.996% uptime which is among the very best in the industry.

My choice of a new hosting provider was also determined by how good their customer service was. At Siteground, you are covered 24/7, all year round. You can choose to use the livechat facility, call them by telephone or send them a support ticket. I have only used their support ticket function and the two times I have used it, my ticket was answered within 5 to 10 minutes! Whatever the matter is whether urgent or not, you can be sure and regardless of the communication method you choose, I’m sure you can expect an efficient, fast and responsive service.

Another advantage of using these hosting services is that you do not have to remember to back-up because their packages comes with a daily back-up service.

While it is good to get the usual services you have come to expect from a hosting provider, it is good if a provider chooses to offer you a lot more than the standard features. If for example you are using a WordPress template, you get some incredible features from Siteground. They include caching, versioning and staging services. All this is in addition to getting numerous WordPress themes as well as having no limits to the plug-ins you choose to install.

Many hosting companies have their servers located in one country. Siteground is different because its servers are located in US, Holland and Singapore. This helps with caching which makes your site faster not depending where the visitor is from.  This also spreads the risk and should something ever happen to a server in one location, they can easily switch to a back-up server in another location. In addition, you are also consulted on which country you would like your site hosted.

In terms of speed, the hosting provider has some extremely fast speeds as a result of its well configured servers. This means that your websites will load faster and your visitors will be able to navigate through easily.

Siteground is also known for taking security matters seriously. It has set up systems to stop security breaches and sends its clients a weekly report named ‘’Hack alert’’. This service is important because it lets you know about the threats out there and what you can do to counter them.

 Hosting Plans

The company has 3 main hosting plans. They include:

  1. The start up plan – This is a basic hosting plan for someone who is setting up their first site. It has all the basic features required to build a successful website. It is pocket friendly and will provide one with a solid foundation in their internet business.
  2. The Grow Big plan – This plan is suitable for a person who has a number of sites and wants to place them under one account. The plan has all the features available on the basic service. In addition it also has premium support and speed and more enhanced security features and one year free SSL certificate.
  3. The Gogeek plan – This is the plan for the real internet geeks. It has all the basic and premium features as well as Geeky Hardware, Geeky eCommerce as well as Geeky staging tools. Can accommodate a larger product line.

 Other services

Siteground also offers other services that include reseller hosting at an affordable price so you can go on and host as many sites as you want and charge your own client a reasonable fee.

The company also offers cloud hosting services with powerful features and a high level of reliability. Further, you can also get dedicated servers if you need them.

 Conclusion

Based on the number of features detailed above, it is clear that Siteground is offering exceptionally good services at affordable prices. Although the company has been in operation for the past 10 years, it has made a mark in the industry. The fact that the company has specialists in WordPress and Joomla is a big boost because of the assistance extended to customers who are new in managing websites.

I am now considering moving all of my important sites over to Siteground as I am more than happy with the security, speed and support that they offer.

    Hey John,
A very thorough review! I left HostGator about a year ago and haven’t regretted it! I now use 4 different hosting companies (10 active websites) and like them all (sorry, none of them is Siteground)

      Hey Michel,

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.

I think I’m going to wait until the new year and then move all my sites out of Hostgator, they are certainly not the cheapest anymore either! I would be interested in knowing your 4 choices too as I’ll be looking at saving some money when I transfer over. Thanks again for your comment!

      All the best

      John.

      Hey Richard,

Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment!

I was great catching up with you earlier, 2 hours and 1 minute, thank goodness for unlimited minutes!!!

I hope you get your hosting sorted out soon, it was things like that, that moved me away from Hostgator, getting random ‘site down’ messages from time to time and not getting any answers as to why from their support… when I could get in touch with them!!!

Keep in touch buddy, all the best,

      John.

    Hey John,

Thanks for the in-depth review. It sounds, so far, like you made a good decision. Please keep us posted though, I’d be interested to see how things are further down the line. It’s important to know of good hosting companies, especially with more and more companies being swallowed up by EIG.

I want to switch hosting but I left it too late this time around so bit the bullet and renewed. I’ll definitely be switching long before my next renewal date though. The host I’ve been considering going with is Interserver. They’re currently offering a lifetime Warrior discount too. B-)

I’m glad you managed to get everything sorted out in the end!

      Hey Glenn,

Thanks for dropping by again it’s appreciated!

As I mentioned before, I will probably be moving all my sites over to Siteground now unless I find a better value alternative, although I will probably keep them on a separate server to my blog if I do stick with Siteground, the fact that they will transfer all my sites for me and also a quick response customer service might just make it for me.

I will have a look at Interserver too, thanks for the tip! Its a shame you left it too late to change, however, if you are having problems with your current provider, it might well be worth you biting the bullet and moving over to a new one.

Thanks again for leaving a comment Glen!

      All the best,

      John.
